Larry Ball, known more commonly in the Northwest chess community as Coach Larry, has been playing chess for most of his life, and has taught the game full time to people of all ages for the past 16 years. After all that time he decided he ought to hang up a shingle of his own. The identity is a stylized, hero version of William Steinitz who, in 1886, was recognized as the world’s first, undisputed chess champion.
